From the Pastors Desk
Jesus is soon returning to judge His enemies, set up His kingdom and rule over the Earth for a thousand years. There are 300 passages in the Bible that deal with the return of Jesus. Jesus also spoke of it at least 21 times. Matt 24:29, Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken. Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the Earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. This is the physical return of the Christ to the Earth, just as His first coming was physical – Acts 1:11, Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven. The Second Coming of Christ and the Rapture are two different events. The Rapture happens before the Tribulation period, and the Second Coming brings the Tribulation period to conclusion. In the Rapture, Jesus comes for His people before Judgment, and in the Second Coming, He comes with His people for Judgment. In the Rapture, Jesus comes like a thief, and in the Second Coming, everyone will see Him. What should Christians do until Christ returns? Every believer is called to evangelize until His return – the Great Commission! God has given time, talent/skills and treasure/material wealth to each one of us, all of which have a role in the spiritual lives of believers. We need to be faithful, not successful in evangelism, but do what Christ has commanded us. And, personally, be ready for the return of Christ. If Christ was to come back tonight, would you be ready?
I am coming quickly hold fast what you have, so that no one will take your crown – Rev 3:11. Living with the hope of Jesus’ return at any moment keeps our perspective right. Our actions activities and words become important, as we know we will soon give account to our Lord Jesus. Our dear sister Lyle spent her time wisely – her prayers and faith were an inspiration to many. We will miss her bodily presence, but know that she is rejoicing with joy unspeakable and full of glory. 1 Pet 1:8.
