From the Pastor’s Desk
As I was preparing for this weeks study I realised for the first time in reading of the death of James what an impact this must have had upon the apostle John! How painful must have been the death of his brother at this time and what effect did it have upon John? For sure it must have been painful. Yes, John knew where James now was and how Jesus had spoken of such things for those who would follow Him. If you remember this had been a discussion point with James and John’s mother and Jesus early on. But powerfully and beautifully the Apostle John continued on in the ministry Jesus had called him to in spite of his brother James execution. He did not shy away from God’s call upon his own life at any time. Again this tells us that Christ’s resurrection and His deity were to John and James the all encompassing reason to serve Jesus even though it could cost one’s life. I look forward to meeting James and John in heaven and speaking to them both about this time in their lives. James was a true living sacrifice!
The angel of the Lord surrounds and defends all who fear Him. Taste and see that the Lord is good. Ps 34:7-8
The bible teaches that angels are fierce and wonderful beings created by God to carry out His purposes on earth. Consider this when you may be entertaining thoughts of doubt toward God of His love for you. God sends His powerful angels to protect you. You are so loved by God and important to Him, that of all the work these beings do, God provides His army to surround the children of God!
God will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Ps 91:11
CCSH has a tithe and offering container at the left side of the sanctuary as you enter for your grace giving for the work of the Lord here. – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically.
2Co 9:6 remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
We ask that once the service has commenced that should you need to leave the sanctuary that you are mindful to not be a distraction to those worshipping and listening to God’s Word. If you are returning please do so to the seating at the back of the sanctuary – thank you for your consideration.
