 From the Pastors Desk

A Christian businessman who was travelling in Korea saw by the side of the road a young man pulling a wooden plough while an old man held the handles. The businessman was amused and stopped to take a photo. He said to his missionary interpreter travelling with him, “I suppose they are very poor.” Yes was the reply, these two men are Christians. When their church was being built they were eager to give something toward it; but they had no money. So they decided to sell their one and only ox and give the proceeds to the church. This spring they are pulling the plough themselves.

The businessman said, “That must have been a real sacrifice.” The missionary companion said, “They rather thought it was fortunate that they had an ox to sell.” The businessman fell silent. On returning home to his church, the businessman said to his pastor he wanted to greatly increase his giving, he told his pastor, he wanted to do some plough work. Up until now I have never given God anything that involved real sacrifice.

Be praying for our special Mother’s Day Sunday service – 14th May, don’t forget to invite mum and grandma!

From Helen’s Heart

When I am weak then I am strong – 2 Cor 12:10

The Apostle Paul learned this lesson as he was dealing with a hindrance. When he admitted his weakness and his willingness to allow God to take over then God worked in his situation. When we too recognise our weaknesses in difficult times and our inability to fix it then we can allow God to work through us and God alone gets the glory. Commit your weakness, difficulty, illness or problem to the Lord and allow Him to work a miracle in your life this week. This Tuesday at 9:30am we are commencing a new Bible study on the book of John “Spotting the Real from the Fake!” Crèche will NOT be available for this study as it caters for women with older children at school or none at home to attend. See you on Tuesday morning at 9:30 am.

CCSH has a tithe and offering container at the left side of the sanctuary as you enter for your grace giving for the work of the Lord here. – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically. 2Co 9:6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

Church Etiquette

We ask that once the service has commenced that should you need to leave the sanctuary that you are mindful to not be a distraction to those worshipping and listening to God’s Word. If you are returning please do so to the seating at the back of the sanctuary – thank you for your consideration.
