From the Pastor’s Desk

I can either go through a trial, a difficult time with a symphony in my heart because God promised not only to strengthen me in them, Isa 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. and to walk with me through them! OR I can choose to tap into sympathy; it will always be at God’s expense because what lies at the bottom of such sympathy, an unspoken implication that what is happening in your life is out of God’s control!  That God has let you down! God is totally and absolutely completely faithful to meet us in every trial, in every difficulty. Don’t let His work be short-circuited by, “I feel sorry for you.” Don’t get sympathy instead of a symphony. Burn out or Blaze? – Standing near the fire on that black night, Peter could not believe what was going on.  He had left a successful fishing business, his family, everything to follow this man.  Now after 3 years, his hero, this amazing man whom he believed in and had depended on was being carried off to be crucified. Just then someone asked him if he was one of the followers of you know who.  Quickly he had spurted, “No I don’t even know Him.” Peter’s flame, the blaze had burnt out!  Bow down to the idol when the music starts or we will cook you alive.  “So be it king”, three young Jewish men said.“God is able to deliver us, if He sees fit not to on this occasion we still won’t bow!”  Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were thrown into the furnace – but their faith just blazed as they walked around in the furnace in step with Jesus. A blaze or a burn out – what will it be? Sympathy or a symphony – the choice is yours. To God be the glory…

Helen’s Heart

You have put gladness in my heart –Psalm 4:4

Humour, fun, how good it is. Proverbs says a happy heart makes a happy face – Pro 15:13.  It is good medicine – lighten up this week as we lead up to our Thanksgiving service next week. We had a joyful time celebrating an American tradition – (I wish we would adopt rather than Halloween) of Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for. I would like to thank the women’s committee for their wonderful efforts not only yesterday but throughout the year. Their help to plan and organize events for our women’s ministry is invaluable and appreciated.

Grace Giving

God doesn’t want the gift without the giver. He doesn’t desire man’s wealth apart from his will. Our giving should be first vertical, then horizontal. Romans 12: 1 I beseech you therefore, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service To the left and rear of the sanctuary is an offering container for your grace giving. Therefore as you abound in every thing, in faith and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that you abound in this grace (giving) also.
