From the Pastor’s Desk
We have come to worship Him…Matthew 2:2 The Magi seem to have been astrologer priests from the ancient Persian Empire. Their visit to Jesus is beautifully complimentary to that of the shepherds. Two vastly different groups of visitors. The shepherds were Jews, the Magi were Gentiles. The shepherds, simple untutored folk of the land, the Magi were scholars, wise men from the East. The Magi brought gifts of great wealth. The shepherds, the simple message of hope in their hearts. But the babe in Bethlehem united powerfully these two differing groups. They both came to worship the Messiah! This wonderful babe born in a manger in Bethlehem brought the shepherds from the field and the Magi from the East. He today still acts like a magnet attracting all people of all cultures. Because He is the Savior of the world!
You will keep your friends if you forgive them but you will lose your friends if you keep talking about what they did wrong…a friend is always a friend, and relatives are born to share our troubles – Proverbs 17:9,17 CEV As a mother we spend time taking our children to their friends and can neglect nurturing our own friendships. Perhaps there is an old friend coming to mind, choose to call that friend and share a cup of coffee with them. God has designed us for human companionship so enjoy a friend this week. You may just be the encouragement she needs at the moment.
CCSH has a tithe and offering container at the left side of the sanctuary as you enter for your grace giving for the work of the Lord here. – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically.
We ask that once the service has commenced that should you need to leave the sanctuary that you are mindful to not be a distraction to those worshipping and listening to God’s Word. If you are returning the ushers will direct you to seating at the back of the sanctuary – thank you for your consideration.
For our Christmas Eve service we need some servants still for crèche ministry! – please see Nathan Anderson for further information.
