Have you ever noticed how people who have no children comment to those that have on how they should raise their children? Or someone who has travelled a rocky road in the area of relationships always has ‘wise’ counsel for those in a relationship on what they should do? The classic is when your car breaks down, you check under the bonnet and someone with no mechanical know how starts telling you what the problems most likely are and what to check?
All of us are to blame at some time as we seem to have a penchant to know how to fix everyone elses problems but our own!
Personally, I only take notice of truly qualified people when someone is giving me advice. If something is broken and needs repairing, listen to a tradesman in that field. I was once told very wisely by someone to only listen to financial advice by someone who is putting their money where their advice is. But we need to be careful in all things and we do want the best advice from someone who really knows don’t we?
When I look at the world today, hear the news of two old ladies leaving a golf club in the leafy suburb of South Perth at 8:30 pm to walk to their car and they are robbed by two men, one armed with a gun and the other a knife, I want to know what is the world coming to. Where are we heading. Sadly so many people now don’t stop to help people in need because they might suffer violent outcomes. Where is our world heading or spiralling to?
But the biggest question for all of us is, what happens when I die, where do I go, what exists beyond the grave, is there life after death? Is anyone qualified to answer this our toughest and often most feared question?
Thank God yes! For it was Jesus Christ Himself who said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 “What!” they exclaimed. “It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple, and you can rebuild it in three days?” 21 But when Jesus said “this temple,” he meant his own body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered he had said this, and they believed both the Scriptures and what Jesus had said. John chapter 2:19-22.
But that is not all that Jesus is qualified to speak on. For your loneliness, for your being misunderstood, for your being deserted, for your being blamed for things you have not done – He is qualified. But most of all He is qualified to tell you He can change your life and bring you hope and new life in your situation. He can remove guilt and shame – He’s qualified. Jesus proved His qualifications on all these matters and more the day He rose from the dead, three days to the dot as He said He would.
Today, tonight speak to someone Who is qualified and let Him give you hope and remove the fears that this world holds. How? Call on Him with all your heart, confess your sins and failures before Him and the Bible says He will grant you eternal life – He’s qualified to do that! Stop living in fear and allow God to take over looking after you.
John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
