You are invited to join with Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour this Sunday evening from 6.00 p.m. for another study in our series through the book of Job titled “Out Of The Ashes”. This week the message is called ‘Learning in Adversity’.
The old English preacher Charles Spurgeon, who himself was acquainted with suffering, declared that “the greatest earthly blessing that God can give to any of us is health, with the exception of sickness.” He went on to elaborate that “Men will never become great in divinity until they become great in suffering.” If many of us are honest, this is a lesson that we would rather not pay the tuition!
As we’ve been studying through the book of Job, the titular character would likely agree. Along with his three friends, Job has often wondered why he is experiencing the intense suffering we read of in the book. In the next sermon in our series, we will learn how God can speak to us and bring hope through the trials we experience. From Job 32 and on through Job 37 we will learn about the ways God often uses adversity to challenge our misconceptions, protect us from destructive choices, and lead us to depend more deeply on Jesus Christ for healing and transformation.
See you on Sunday the 29th of October from 6.00 p.m. for worship and study in God’s word.
