Travelling through the Middle East I constantly see the prayer towers of Islam that play their recorded prayers throughout the day. In addition, during this month they mark this period called Ramadan whereby fasting and prayers are especially emphasised.
In hotels in each room is a note requesting visitors to the area to avoid certain dress styles that would be deemed inappropriate for their religious beliefs.
Why do I bring all this up for discussion?
I thought just how the opposite has happened in Australia, where buildings which once were churches have closed and are now either houses or restaurants.
I see the Australian media driven to excess over promoting the views of the non-Christian lobby groups who in particular seem to dominate the airwaves and popular opinion.
What has happened to Christianity in our nation? Where is the wave of support to revere the name of Christ, to promote Christian values and seek others to respect Christ and the Word of God.
This week mention Jesus name in your work place, your class, your sporting group. Carry your Bible and read at lunch time in your lunch room. Pray in public, at your coffee shop, or fast food outlet.
When discussion arises that belittle the Bibles teaching on marriage, faithfulness or purity, seize that opportunity and express your belief and conviction based upon the word of God and have the courage to do so.
Jesus said, Matthew 5:13-14
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
It’s time to change the geography of our community and our nation. It is time for us to witness openly and consistently of our relationship with Jesus Christ and to have His name exalted whenever and wherever we can.
