Welcome this morning this precious Easter Sunday as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ from the dead. This is a day that that we should truly celebrate with great joy and thanksgiving. We have a special media presentation this morning by the Calvary 24/7 Youth! Tonight, there will be no evening service as we gathered on Easter Friday. Services will be back to normal next week. Community groups meet this week on Wednesday. If you would like to serve here at Calvary, please simply fill in one of our Connection cards, which are available from our ushers. If you miss a service please utilize our web page and you can be sure to keep up with all the teaching services here at Calvary. You are invited to please join in the pre-service prayer meeting before each service located in classroom 1. There will be a bouncy castle available for the kids straight after Sunday school and the service this morning. Its just 284 days until we walk in the footsteps of Jesus in the land of Israel!
From the Pastor’s Desk
In John’s gospel it records in chapter 19…Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand..v41-42. When we visited Israel, we went to the place of Jesus death, Golgotha or as we call it Calvary. Now within a very short distance, I mean you actually view Golgotha from the garden tomb location, which is right next to it. Just a few metres away, 50 or so at the most. The tomb location is still a garden area to this day and the tomb, carved out of limestone is as it was in the time of Christ. It is amazing how correct John writes this little piece of information. Helen and went inside that tomb and saw the very location that is believed to be where Jesus was carried and placed. Not only are John’s directions 100% accurate as he writes in his gospel, but the tomb of Jesus as recorded by John is accurate in the greatest detail – it’s still empty! For years those against Christ have tried and tried, foolishly, to find ‘remains’ of Jesus, His burial site ‘with’ a body! They never will! John was right in everything – He is Risen!
Think about what is true, right, pure, lovely and excellent…things that bring honour, are respected and good enough to receive praise – Phil 4:8. The things we think on feed our souls. We are so careful to guard our words and actions yet neglect entirely the source of character and life. Whether we know it or not we are degrading our soul life by the thoughts we indulge, the books we are reading, movies etc. or even the company we keep. As we carefully observe good hygiene with our bodies let’s practice the laws of hygiene in the spirit. We do this by having Christ at the bottom of our thoughts and the foundation upon which they rest. God bless you as you think on all Christ has done for you this Easter – Helen.
CCSH has a tithe and offering container at the left side of the sanctuary as you enter for your grace giving for the work of the Lord here. May your giving be an ongoing part of your loving worship of our precious Lord and thankfulness His love for us. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NLT) Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically.
