From the Pastors Desk –
Today is Easter Sunday and we gather to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. I have stood in the tomb which they believe is the one in which Jesus body was placed. It is located in the garden once owned by Joseph of Arimathea. It is but a short distance from Golgotha, the place of the skull, also called Calvary.
It’s still empty! No other man has impacted our world or our history like the man Jesus Christ. Why even our calendar is predicated on his birth and death. You would think that such a person, so known, that one would know where His grave was if He had died like all other men and his body being in a grave. But Jesus unlike any other person, has no grave as such in which His remains now lie. No, all Jesus had was a tomb which He borrowed for just three days and then He rose from the dead! It’s all true! Everything that Jesus said and did was verified by His rising from the dead after three days just as He said He would. Today, join with Helen and I and celebrate the most wonderful miracle this world has ever known. For Jesus Christ was no ordinary man, He was the Son of God and He is Risen!
Blessed are those….who have set their hearts on pilgrimage – Psalm 84:5. I remember when Keith and I set off to Bible College. We were newly married, had a lovely home in Dunsborough opposite the ocean, but left all and set off to Perth for the College. I looked back as we travelled, all our worldly possessions in a small trailer attached to our car. “Weird”, impulsive? I don’t think so. Jesus said, Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head – Luke 9:58 . Jesus had the eternal perspective. Each of us are called to set our hearts on the eternal perspective and not hold onto the things of this world. We are just passing through!
SUNDAY SCHOOL MEETING!
Next week there will be a brief Sunday school meeting for all teachers and helpers in the #1 classroom after the morning service.
Dads and mums don’t forget to give/remind your little ones of the blessed opportunity to give in their own Sunday school service – it will be a blessing to them!
CCSH has a tithe and offering container at the left side of the sanctuary as you enter for your grace giving for the work of the Lord here. – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically. 2Co 9:6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
We ask that once the service has commenced that should you need to leave the sanctuary that you are mindful to not be a distraction to those worshipping and listening to God’s Word. If you are returning please do so to the seating at the back of the sanctuary – thank you for your consideration.
