This week at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour
This morning our special guest speaker is Pastor Pete Nelson and we look forward to hearing God speak to us through his teaching today. Tonight, in the Book of Daniel, we’re reminded that it often takes great courage to live for Jesus in today’s culture, and that bowing down to the popular opinion is always easier than taking a stand for what is right. We learn that our choices come at a high price, but that we also have great opportunities to glorify God and silence His critics in the process. Pastor Nathanael will be detailing how the new crèche system will work for 2013. Sunday school teachers – a brief (10 minute) meeting in the S/S classroom for all the teachers please straight after the service. Calvary Women – Tuesday morning commences this next Tuesday – don’t forget your gold coin donation for the childcare service. Want to serve here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour – grab a “Connection Card” and fill in the necessary information to be part of the “Saints in Service” here at CCSH. Need prayer – the pastors are available directly after the service.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, – Just how powerful is the Gospel of Christ? What can it do? Who can it help? Simple, Paul explains, it can bring salvation – that means new life to a person whose life is totally shipwrecked. Who can it reach? – Paul says everyone, there is no one that the Gospel cannot reach! What does the Gospel bring? – it brings power, that means there is nothing that can stop its work! How do I receive this gospel? You simply have to believe what it says. Believe what you say, believe that Christ’s death and resurrection, a dead man who is the Son of God, conquered death, the grave and showed us the sign that all the work the Gospel proclaims is absolutely true – for you!
You younger men likewise be subject to your elders; and all of you clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, For God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble – 1 Peter 5:5-6
I have bought my children up to ‘respect their elders’. It is a sound biblical principle to continue even in this day when very little respect and honour is displayed. There were (and are) times when those placed over their lives (teachers’, bosses’ and elders) may not always be ‘worthy’ of that respect. But we must see God as using these people to shape them and mold their character and conform them to God’s image. This form of humility is one of the disciplines that prepare them for the things God has prepared for them….live in humility this week. – Helen
CCSH has a tithe and offering container at the left side of the sanctuary as you enter for your grace giving for the work of the Lord here. May your giving be an ongoing part of your loving worship of our precious Lord and thankfulness His love for us. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NLT) Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically.
