What’s Happening at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour – 2012 – The Year of Community

This Sunday morning the 4/Twelve Youth will be serving us for our communion service with Pastor Marlon leading us. Tonight Ps Israel finishes the Book of Jonah. Wednesday here at the church, join us for prayer commencing at 7:00pm followed by our final teaching in the series, The DNA of What is a Christian – “Generosity” (sharing God’s gifts with others). Pastor Israel, April and family will be vacationing overseas from next week so next Sunday evening Ps Keith will begin a new series on the Book of Habakkuk. If you worry about what’s happening around you in our world at this moment then this book will hold a very special message for you. Check out the new Advent Family Christmas devotional you can follow from our webpage – it is amazing and you can down load it for your family to follow into Christmas. Our Christmas Eve service – Monday 24th December at 6:30PM! Remember be praying for who you can invite. CCSH family surf day has moved to January 2013.

From the Pastor’s Desk

Before time as we know it, before a man named Adam breathed the air of the world in which we now live, before there was a Bethlehem, a plan, a deliberate decision was made that Jesus Christ would enter our world, arrive as a baby, grow into a man, eat, work, thirst, grow weary and walk amongst us, die upon a cross and rise again the third day which no-one else has ever done nor will ever do. God designed Christmas, the whole story to make provision for our sins, failures and weaknesses way before there was a you and I! Why do we have Christmas for anyway some people ask?” Because WE ALL NEED CHRISTMAS! God built us to not be alone. The first time in the Bible God said something was not good was when He saw Adam was alone….Gen 2:18 And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. God built us to be dependant upon Him and others. We all need Christmas because we cannot make it alone! A man wants respect, a woman wants to be loved and a child wants to be cared for. In the same way, God made provision for the mess that man was going to make. He knew before Adam sinned that he would do so and he knew it would be necessary for Jesus to come to this earth. Just think this Christmas, how much God has prepared for such a time as Christmas – for you!

From Helen’s Heart

You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance – Ps 32:7. As we look over the year that has gone – (and boy has this year whizzed past!) we may have been hit with surprises. Of course in hindsight we have 20/20 vision, but we have no idea as to what will happen one minute from now. However our invisible God in His providence is constantly and confidently at work. He never changes, He is our hiding place and protector. Let Him surround you and keep you this week. This Tuesday at 9:30 am is the final women’s study before the kids break off from school. See you then. Helen J

Grace Giving

We don’t not take up and offering here at CCSH but we provide the opportunity for you to worship your Lord just as the widow did as Jesus watched her privately by giving her offering in the Temple offering box. To the left side of the sanctuary is our grace-giving box for you to worship the Lord with your tithes and offerings. May your grace giving be a part of your ongoing worship of our Lord and Saviour and the continued blessing of His work here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour. To God be the glory!  – CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089 for those who wish to give electronically.
