TThis week at Calvary – 2012 – “The Year of Community!” – Calvary = Community

Join us tonight and seize the freedom that you and your family have to worship God and give Him the glory and praise due to His name. We are studying the series “The Summer on the Mount”, in Matthew’s Gospel. It will change your life! Wednesday we gather as a church to pray here in the chapel at 7:00pm. Bible study follows at 7:30pm in the Book of Revelation chapter 21, “New Heaven a New Earth”. See Pastor Israel for any information regarding being part of the new Community Group outreach here at CCSH. Please keep in prayer for Pastor Chuck Smith who is beginning Chemo for his lung cancer. We have finished out interest only paying period for the new beautiful chapel and have now begun payment on the actual loan. See any of the pastors for you to belong, build, bless and bestow God glory to His name and His body here at CCSH by serving. Next Sunday morning, the 5th of February, we have as our special guest speaker the Deputy Commissioner of the Western Australia Police, Mr Chris Dawson. I encourage you not to miss this special service and teaching from God’s precious Word.

From the Pastors Desk –

Firstly thank you all for your prayers for Helen and I. We sensed God’s absolute protection during our amazing time in Israel. The community groups kicked off in earnest last week and it was such a blessing to be able to be part of this move of God within our fellowship. On Friday I received a phone call from a father of a young 11-year-old boy we have been praying for who has cancer. The dad asked if I could do some things for him as his son’s last bout of treatment was unsuccessful and he would like me to set up some grief counselling in the future when needed. My heart broke as I spoke to him and I said we would pray as a church for his son and continue to until he is either healed or goes to be with the Lord. This is exactly what ‘community’ means here at CCSH in 2012. God has given us the privilege to know about this little boy and his family in their greatest need. To be responsible for them. To be able to pray, join with them on the journey that God has marked for their lives, and to accompany them, weep with them and intercede for them. Community is making sure that when we each face a storm, a trial, a joy or a victory that we have others of God’s precious family around us. To laugh with us, to weep with us but above all to walk the path that each of us will face not alone, but with brothers and sisters in the Lord who will gather, be there for us and stand alongside us in our times of greatest need. We become more than just a name, a person, we become family, the family of God and the community of believers that the Church was established to be. Act 2:44 And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

Helen’s Heart

When He saw the multitudes ..He was moved with compassion for them. Matt 9:36

One of the highlights of our trip to Israel for me was to experience the Garden of Gethsemane. Sitting among the 2000 year old olive trees and imagining the location of the disciples resting and our Lord earnestly praying. For me it was sensing the battle of prayer. Our precious Lord’s agonising; not for what He was to experience but because of His compassion for mankind, not willing any should perish. I am grateful Jesus concluded the Father’s will be done. It is good to be back enjoying fellowship with everyone.  Thank you to those servants willing to place their names back on all the rosters for 2012. If you want to be included in any of the service areas within our fellowship – Sunday school, cleaning, morning tea, kids worship or ushering please see one of the Pastors or myself to be included in the next round of rosters – thanks Helen.

Grace Giving
