Advent 2017 – Part 4: Kingdoms In Conflict

You are invited to join with Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour this Sunday evening from 6.00 p.m. for the last message in a series titled “Advent 2017”. The message is called “Kingdoms in Conflict.”

Jesus’ 1st coming to earth is celebrated each Christmas, and many of the details of this miraculous birth are blurred into familiarity causing the impact of his appearance to be somewhat lost. In Matthew’s gospel, Matthew recounts in Ch 2 how it was that the wise men who came from the East did so to worship Jesus in acknowledgement of His kingship, and of His purpose to die as the atoning sacrifice for all sin. In contrast to this, the king in the land, Herod the Great, rejected Jesus as king and committed despicable crimes to try to resist Jesus’ kingship.

In some way, this is a picture of the continual struggle within the hearts and lives of humanity to resist Jesus’ Lordship of their lives and to try and establish themselves as fake kings and queens of their lives.

This Christmas, whose kingdom will rule and reign in your life? Yours? Or Jesus’ Kingdom?

See you on Sunday the 17th of December from 6.00 p.m. for worship and study in God’s word as we consider this important message.
